Yesterday was suppose to be the day I ran my record of record time. 11.6 was the target but alas it was not meant to be. On Saturday whilst giving the car a look over and pressure testing the meth system I noticed a major leak when I primed the pump. My race day was over as it was a faulty fitting and I do not believe in patch jobs when it comes to meth.
At around 11 at night I decided to go regardless. Boost pressure was turned down to 1.0bar and I removed the whole methanol system from the car. The only other changes made to my previous runs was a change to the gearbox software that increased the torque converter stall speed by 300rpm. I always have had difficulty boosting off the line so this would help.
The gearbox software helped a lot. My 60ft dropped by 1.5secs which made the world difference. 12.04 is only .1sec slower than my best by with a 5km/h exit speed drop due to the lower power output.
Chip Logic in Natal also had a good outing taking a customer M5 out and running three consecutive 11.8's.
