Race Report: 12.04 on pump with no meth

Yesterday was suppose to be the day I ran my record of record time. 11.6 was the target but alas it was not meant to be. On Saturday whilst giving the car a look over and pressure testing the meth system I noticed a major leak when I primed the pump. My race day was over as it was a faulty fitting and I do not believe in patch jobs when it comes to meth.

At around 11 at night I decided to go regardless. Boost pressure was turned down to 1.0bar and I removed the whole methanol system from the car. The only other changes made to my previous runs was a change to the gearbox software that increased the torque converter stall speed by 300rpm. I always have had difficulty boosting off the line so this would help.

The gearbox software helped a lot. My 60ft dropped by 1.5secs which made the world difference. 12.04 is only .1sec slower than my best by with a 5km/h exit speed drop due to the lower power output.

Chip Logic in Natal also had a good outing taking a customer M5 out and running three consecutive 11.8's.

I've been waiting for your results!!!
Read on the other forum your meth is sat, may I ask why you only ran 1bar boost, what fuel were you running? Exit speeds?
Great times without meth!!!!
Well done!!!

Excellent run there on pump. Very interesting info. My 60ft was 1.95sec so theoretically speaking if I could get a 60ft of 1.5 I would probably manage a time of 12.1 - 12.2sec. Are you on MT? But I doubt that we or I will ever get those type of 60ft's in Mtuba. My traction control light still came on at launch & that's the reason I think she shifted on her own. I think I ran a mid 4sec 0 -100, still need to check.

I ran pump fuel, 1 bar because it was the only flash file I had on Saturday night and I was too lazy to fit the Procede. Exits dropped to 188 (less than when I was full bolt on high boost stock turbos). So with the low boost I lost 5.5km/h exits speed. I made up for all the lost time in my first gear alone.

Each .1 you save on the 60ft is at least .2 at the second. You should keep your traction control off completely. Each time your light flashes the throttle closes and the dv dumps the boost.

Well done George

U get my pm?

Oops read your last one but didn't reply. Get hold of a company in the UK called Birds BMW. They sell Quaife. Tell them you interested and email them your Vin. They will be able to tell you if its bolted or not. Once you know PM me again.

With traction control off the LC does not engage. It only works on the first stage with DTC activated. So if it loses traction I cannot do much unless the tyres hold out so next will be 245/40/18 MT Et Street's.

 great times...but  if you only loosing .1 why do you need meth + etxra boost - would extra boost not give you that little extra to knock the .1 over. :dunno:

As the car evolves tuning wise then the 11.91 I had run is not the benchmark. I know the car is capable of better runs than that as I have Vboxed better times as tuning gremlins are sorted. So if I was to run a 11.6 which is the full potential at altitude then the difference of .4secs starts becoming major and a little more boost might cut it to a eleven but its far off from what it can do.

So George what did you do to the gearbox?
At what rpm do you launch?

We changed the torque converter lockup and moved it to 2800rpm electronically. Before it would go to 2400-2500 then with more gas wheel spin. When I let go of the brake I let it run to 4000 then I let off the gas a bit for first. In hot weather I didn't need to let off but the turbos are operating in the cold.

Was it Tushar car that ran 11.8

It was Jays car. Cleo ran the time as well as the owner so the car is pretty constant.
