R56 shudder and Air Con irritations

Hey Fanatics.
Needs some help.
My wife's 2010 Cooper with the N12 engine has a shudders when pulling away and has a weird clutch action.
Its never the same if that makes sense.

Can it be due for a clutch replacement?

Secondly the air con is very noisy. Drove it over the Xmas period and its irritating.

Its sound like a worn bearing but I have no experience when it comes to air cons.

Any help will be appreciated.

I can't offer much advice on the first point, except to agree that it does seem symptomatic of a clutch issue.

With regard to the AC. BMW/MINI have released a damper that clamps onto one of the AC pipes, which eliminates the noise.
I replaced the compressor on mine a few years ago because of the noise, but the replacement was only slightly better. I lived with it until recently when it seized and was replaced again under motorplan. This replacement (compressor number 3) was very noisy and I complained to them about it. They ordered and installed this new clamp and it's completely cured the noise.

Thanks.
What did the clamp cost?

I'm actually not sure! It's under motorplan still so didn't check, will have a look when I'm at work.
