Hey guys,

Just wanted to know if any of you guys have also experienced oil pressure problems in your Cooper S's.

My oil pressure light has come off and on intermittently for a few days so booked car in.BMW (Auto Atlantic) says my PCV valve has gone , which is rather costly due to the R56s having them moulded into tappet cover:hammerhead:-which means entire cover must be replaced ( R3800.00 Exc. VAT) .Thats just the beginning however as along with this they say oil filter gasket, sump gasket, etc (BMW quoted R12 000 total) :blueCry:

Has anyone else had this problem? also is there anywhere I can get these parts other than bmw? where should I do job (im in CPT central) , car is not in warranty so pockets going to have to take a hit Any and all help/ info will be much appreciated.

R56 without any Warranty is a risky car to own especially if its a 2007. Try Ruan - 0820719139

I have a aftermarket warranty (Motormend - AutoAid) but they dont cover PCV valve, only oil pump or internal damage to engine:hammerhead:

Try searching some of the mini forums for pcv delete. It may help.

If you don't come right at Peugeot, then you can get some blanking plugs from a hardware store. Just need to get the right size to fit the pipe and use a clamp on it.
Should be a few rands.

Im suspecting oil may have been over filled leading to oil pressure light as Im not sure PCV has anything to do with oil pressure? air pressure yes , but if overfilled could be causing all the gaskets to seep too , which is happening at the moment.

Hmm if it is already seeping, then there is pressure in the tappet cover due to the blocked pcv valve and the blanking might make it the same/worse.
So maybe get an expert opinion from an indy first, I haven't done the icv personally so can't comment.

Also confused as to why that is causing the oil pressure. Unless you are losing oil a lot through the seeping and it is actually below the level?
