This is a very critical part. That said - some generics actually have the metal impeller which is more reliable than the OEM plastic.

I would look for an aftermarket unit with a metal impelellor.if u can't find any go oem, or find out who makes the oem part and buy it directly

I replaced the waterpump on the E60 the other day, 240k and it still looks brand new.

OEM for me thank you...

Replaced with a generic once... spectacular failure!!! When it failed (after not too long) it took out the viscous fan blades, radiator, belts...

Rather stick to OEM!!

+1 on what P1000 said. The OEM Pulleys and Pumps have plastic parts that break easily while some aftermarket stuff is now made with metal parts. Thus an 'upgrade'. You can never go wrong with OEM. You can with generic stuff.

So if you do decide to go generic, make sure its the upgraded metal part, otherwise OEM.
