Question on F30 MSport Styling

Hi There

I had a look over on the new F30 M Sport over the weekend. How does everyone feel about the look? I must say imho that the car just lacks any form of muscularness when compared to the E90 MSport. I could write an essay why, but you guys would think I'm nuts. In short, it just does not give me the same wow factor as when BMW launched the E90 MSport.

Everything that was a feature on the previous E90, has been toned down in some form, the car is a clean design, but just borders on being too clinical and lacking in flair. I hate the fact that the new fenders and doors do not flare out like on the E90, to give that muscular chunky feeling.

To me it just seems to be an expensive tin can on wheels. You probably better off buying the Sport Line version and fitting some nice rims than waste money on a package that just lacks on the styling front. See pic linked to see what can be done with the Sport Line

Well, buy an E90 then. Nobody can design something everyone likes.

I am more a function over form kind of guy, but from the inside the f30 feels more special than the e90.

I disagree. As much as I love the E90, the F30 has taken great strides forward. The M-Sport F30 is the most appealing - for me, the lower and aggressive bumpers enhance the styling. But to each his own.

Having owned both the E90 motorsport and now the F30 motorsport I am definitely going to have to disagree. The F30 is by far a superior motorcar. The styling preferences comes down to personal taste.

F30 M-sport needs more low!!

I saw one with the 18's parked next to a pre lci e90 m-sport also on 18's the other day and it was like 5cm's higher!! wtf!:nonono:

I agree. Maybe it needs to grow on me. Its like a smaller version of the 5 series sport, but the link below posted by Cocopops could sway me,

Hi Legacy

Have a look at an E90 fender closely, the shape of it, the wheel arches flare out quite a bit from the side of the car. If you look at the door, from the base of the glass, the metal work extends outward a bit then runs downward to the skirt sills. These styling elements didnt carry over into the F30, hence the lack of muscularness I was refering to in the design.

Are you sure the E90 sport has flared wheel arches and doors?
