Hi all

Im need some guidance and advice

I came across a very clean and well looked after 2009 e70 BMW x5 3.0 a/t petrol with 129000km. Its is a 1 owner vehicle, been serviced at bmw..

Ive been reading reviews online and recommendations and all are steered toward the 3.0d. no mention on the petrol version. I cant even even find any for sale

Can you guys please guide on reliability on the petrol version. Im aware this vehicle is guzzler but ill be using it as a family vehicle for long distance trips.

Are parts spares readily available?

Tks

Suppose it's the same mill as in the E90 330i, which is not a bad thing. BMW 6 pods are well regarded. Yes of course it will not have the power or efficiency of the 30d, but, you could do a lot worse.

I drive many E70's before settling on my 2nd choice being the Q7(mainly due to the 7 seats). The 3.0 petrol I would say is ok, but the 30d is definitely the winner in my opinion.
Since they quite old now, I would lean towards the LCI as well.

+1 on the e70 X5 3.0d.
It’s such a reliable machine.
I have mine since 2015 and it has not skip a beat.

the petrol version, yes it will be a guzzler but reliability is a win for me, owning two cars with the same engine, being the 2009 model it should have he revived N52K engine which was a step up from the normal N52 ( Distinguished by grey VS black (N52K) engine cover ). Mechanically never let me down in the Five years ownership, had to replace the starter motor and the Oil cooler together with oil filter housing gaskets . Both these engines, full service history at agents, one on 189XXX km and the other approaching 215XXX km
