So I'm very keen on getting a 320d as a new daily was wondering if you guys could help me with pricing for the following:

Brake pad replacement
regular 15000km service
timing chain replacement service (i think that motor runs with a timing chain:rollsmile
clutch replacement
water pump replacement
turbo replacement:RedNo:

I know the pricing will change depending on who you take it to I'm just looking for a ball park figure.:ty:

No worries man, the timing chain should be a "life time" item depending on the mileage on the car.

Maybe the other oil burner owners can shed some more light on the subject.

Brake pad replacement (Rear pads were done Oct 2013 and were R1400. Front pads were done March 2014 for R2000. Front discs done Sep 2011 were R3100.)
regular 15000km service (Services aren't always the same and will vary depended on what needs to be done. I think it's safe to say you can budget for R1200 to R2500 for a normal service)
timing chain replacement service (i think that motor runs with a timing chain:rollsmile (Timing chain is a lifetime item according to BMW)
clutch replacement
water pump replacement
turbo replacement:RedNo:

Just checked the vehicle history check sheet I got from BMW for my new E90 320d. Check prices above in red. Just remember these are the stealership prices.

Face lift 320d or pre face lift? Face lift has a timing chain issue. Very expensive repair as it's at the rear of the engine and the motor has to come out.

Correct statement should be "the N47 Motor" has a timing chain issue :smile:

Haven't heard of any local ones suffering from it however.....

Haha yeah well i suppose late prelci also have the N47.

From 2010 onwards the LCI came with an Improved version of the N47.

I drove my pre LCI from 128k km to 198k km. Serviced about every 12k km at the best Mechie I could find in the area. Average price was less than R3k. That includes rear brake pads Ferodo at R800. and I provided the oil which was another say R350. Cant remember which oil but it was good

In my opinion the E90 320d is a safe buy :clapper:
