Hi Guys
I'm also new on BMWFanatics and trying to get the hang of things.
I need to know if i cut the metal piece off my return hose on the power steering (E46) and put it on with a clamp will it work?? :fencelook:
does the metal piece have a valve like me-gafter inside??? at least untill i buy a new one that is. number 5.

If this is a repetition of the same question then it would be super if one of the admin guys could inbox me the link thereto?

No 'me-gafter' inside.....the metal parts are just crimped onto the hose, so you can cut but it will leak again after a while with hose clamp and all......so for a temporary fix, perfect! But best option is to get another new hose! :(

Is your pipe leaking? Have you priced it at the agents?

This metal piece thing had a clip/clamp, of sorts, inside that I suppose clamped over the pipe with the lip to keep it tightened. That clamp or "circlips" thing fell out and now the ATF fluid leaks from the pipe.

That should only be the 'crimping collar' which 'mates' the rubber hose to the end 'metal' section.....if you can get the hose over the end metal section, then 'hose clamp' it for now and look for another new complete pipe or better yet (cheaper option) take that 'pipe' and have one made for yourself at one of the 'hydraulic pipe supply shops'

Have you checked realoem to see if the circlip or whatever it isn't isn't sold separately?

Thanx for the advice guys.... I didn't cut the metal piece off.... I used a wire and Golf MK1'd it to the bracket the supports the lights... lol.... i think it will hold until i buy a new one or check if i can't simply replace the circlip....
