:( possible crank pulley?

Morning gents,

So last night started my car at the gym and got a strong smell coming from the vents (similar to a burning clutch/plastic type deal) - didn't think much of it, thought it might be the car next to me that was idling.

This morning I started the car again and did it's morning idle before driving it, realised the idle was a bit rougher than normal, there seems to be a slight left-right rocking while idling, and the smell appears to have followed me home

No lights or leaks or anything - any ideas?

most likely crank damper pulley. i dont suggest driving the car hard or driving it at all unless you going to a mechanic to get it diagnosed and leaving it there :thumbs:

Thanks guys, been doing a bit of reading and sounds like vibration damper might be the culprit.

I'm at work with the car at the moment so will have to drive it back (slowly) and park it until I can source a replacement.

Have found this so far - seems a lot cheaper than the Stealers?

You buy in the aftermarket you will be replacing it quickly

Spend the money and get from agents....cheaper in the long run.

As said above, vibration dampener - replace ASAP and preferably with the OEM part. This is a common failure and ideally you don't want it to fail while the engine is running! :thumbs:
