Possible BMW purchase

Hi,

I am currently driving a 2007 Ford Focus ST, and I am in the market for a BMW M6. I am looking at this car and should be flying to Durban this weekend to see it:

Car doesn't have any comments on MP and hasn't got any other entries on the MP history other than normal CPS service.

Is there anything else I should be looking for? I tend to keep my cars for at least 8+ years after purchase and I would like to know what I should be looking out for, given that I will keep this vehicle after MP expires.

Find out what the oil consumption has been like if they are aware of it. Seems that some cars have much higher oil consumption than others (even despite taking driving style into account) and has to do with how it was run in. I use 1L every 5000-6000km and check every week. Some have reported needing oil every 1000km.

I also keep cars for the long haul generally.

Drivetrain hasn't been an issue for me with the M5. In fact nobody running stock power that I've met has reported anything out of the ordinary going wrong. I did front wheel bearings at 75000km, Rear wheel bearings were done at just past 80000km. Front Discs at 59000km. Crank case breather valve and piping changed at 85000 under plan. Clutches changed at 88000.

Confident enough that I've decided to keep the car past its extended plan (135000 and end 2019).

Car is going to totally blow you away coming from the ST!

Thanks Llew, this sounds positive. I have read similar feedback on overseas forums as well. It seems that this has been a generally reliable car and no catastrophic failures reported.

If everything goes well I may be driving back to CT in an M6 next Sunday!
