Guess someone posted some links that wasn't permitted. Ok, note taken. But it would be nice if you could inform the person whose link you remove the reason why so we can keep this forum clean

A link like a gumtree ad is fine if posted with the content of the ad itself (you post the body of the ad and a link to gumtree as the source). The same can be said for news articles etc. This is fine, but may still be removed if the forum so wishes.

The problem which leads to the creation of rule 16.1 is when someone simply posts a thread with a link and nothing more, leading to a site that may be promoting the same content as this forum itself. Or when you have a link in your signature to some sideline website you manage/promote, or to a business, etc.

If it's a business of sorts, you are advertising without being a paying advertiser. If it's a (let's call it a blog or web page) of sorts, you are diverting traffic off of the forum.

The moderators generally do inform anyone involved when a mod action is taken against them. We have a policy on this.

The wording of the rule is to protect the forum and staff :=):
