Hey there maybe somebody can help me! I own a 2001 320D E46, and I need to replace the crank breather valve and the vacuum hoses on my car! Where can I go to get this done in the mapumalanga area "secunda" and more or less what does it cost?
And the swirl flaps is it better to remove them or what is the solution? Please help I'm no mechanic and would appreciate any help!

Just my luck hey! The car has decided to brake the main crank pulley too! Any ideas on how much that's going to cost?
Back to the rest of my problems, Okay I got pdf,s on how to remove the swirl flaps! But where can you get blank for the swirl flaps?
I all so found some help on the crank breather and the vacuum pipes! I'll post all of that on here as soon as my internet is working again! Using my mobile phone for now!

Crank pulley is about R7-8000 at the dealers, I don't know where else you can get. Netercol on the forum, I think has repaired one.

Crankcase breather is really simple to replace. A new one is about ~R800 although, you could replace only the filter part if you know the correct part number and that would be much cheaper.

Best place to get vacuum hoses is the dealers. they sell per meter and the quality is not at all comparable to what you get at Midas or Autozone. That said at a reputable hydraulics shop you should be able to get quality German hose for much cheaper than the dealer.

nope, no way to repair that pulley.. i have replaced a friends 320d pulley with a generic "pirate" part though, with no ill effects. these pulleys are a known weak part on the diesel engines, which is why you get non oem copies of it in the first place.. good luck.

ps. i suggest you get someone to refit the new pulley for you though, its a real pita to get off..

Swirl flaps: Remove the flaps from the spindles and replace the 'empty' spindles just like that. Lightly grind the bottom of the little torx bolts holding the blade to the spindle (since they are clinched at the bottom) and then unscrew them.

Vacuum hoses: BMW dealer charge somewhere in the region of R213 per meter. I got pretty decent and spec'd hose from Rubber Products and Moldings in Parow for R19 per meter.

Breather: Replace either the whole component or the innards like P1000 said

Crank pulley: I do not know why on earth it has to be so expensive. I bought a new crank pulley for my Sorento on Saturday for R1500+VAT from the Kia dealers. That pulley is for a 2.5liter turbo diesel engine which is the same type of pulley as the one used for the M47 motor.
You could try a scrapyard for a secondhand one. They go for R1k to R2k secondhand.

On the topic, next to BMW, I think Kia dealer prices are sometimes more ridiculous than BMW like wiperblades @ R900...
