This was one of the biggest travesties I could think of next to things Ike apartheid and racism etc etc... :thumbdo:

Can BMW even do this?

It was probably the most detailed online workshop manual available for all BMW's were you find servicing routines and replacement procedures...

BMW are quite... germanic.. in protecting any and all copyrights related to their brand.
Locally you are not allowed to advertise parts using their platform designations e.g "E36, E46", which is why you will see some printed ads for BMW parts saying "S36 S46" etc

It was all BMW's intellectual property, so yes they can.
