Pirelli Run Flat Tyres

Morning Guys,

Does anyone knows where i can get Pirelli run tyre(195/55 R16 87H) at good price around Pretoria CBD or PTA North. I reside in Brits and they only have Bridgestone brand. I hit a pothot and urgently need to replace the damaged tyre as it is beyond repair...PTA North HI-Q quote me R1700 per tyre while the fitment centre in Brits told me they could replace the tyre with Bridgestone Brand for R1150. Why the huge discrepancy in pricing for the same size?

I would replace both tires on the axle with the bridgestones & keep the 1 decent tire thats on the car for a spare

It is BMW 1 Series 116I...
I bought it 4 month ago and it came with those run flat tyres, i thought of changing them but the problem is that there is no space for spare wheel at the back...i recon spare wheel will just cosume a lot of space at the back!

You get the space saver spare wheel kits. Basically those marie-biscuit tyres. R3-4k from the dealers

I have never really thought of having that kind of spare before...I have always thought they will come handy if you drive smaller cars like City Golfs and Picantos instead...

Agreed with Hellas, however you can also get a BMW M-motion kit....

M3's don't have a spare at all.. they have a pump with integrated foam which basically pumps up the tire and fills it with an expending foam.. think of it as an instant run flat tyre but for normal tyres..

Dude.... run flat tires are T E R R I B L E !! T E R R I B L E!!T E R R I B L E!!T E R R I B L E!!! and a total waste of money.. you cant repair even basic damage to them and if you are 1/4 way thru one and it picks up a nail you are gonna be replacing 2 tyres to keep the wear even... dump the run flats and get yourself some nice Michelin PS2's!!

Hi Matt,

I have come to realise that they are pretty useless myself...this will be my second tyre in a space of Four months...the fact that Brits has roads that are infested with potholes does not help matters as well...will have to consider all the options you guys made me aware of, i cannot go on buying one tyre after another...prior to having a car with RFT, I dont even remember the last time i changed tyres on that car, i sold the car without a tyre headache...

gotta agree here...if u decide to keep the flats ur gonna regret later and end up selling the car. :hammerhead:

dude, don't let the flats keep u down, u gotta nice machine now pls do yourself a favour & get normal tyres to enjoy the car.

for the record, i'm driving regularly on the sunderland ridge road (pretoria west) :banghead: with normal tyres and never had a prob. if i had flats, i'd have probably been on a 2nd set by now believe me, brits potholes are less dangerous as compared to ours here. :mmm:
