C320/C350 would be the closest competitor to the E46 330i as far as performance goes. Yep, Merc had to throw in extra capacity to their motors to keep up with the 330i.

Initially around 2000, I think it was just the 330i vs C320. Then the C350 (which replaced the C320) and C280 came along around 2004 only, while the E46 was still in production. So I guess they are all competitors in one form or the other, as I think the 330i was closer in price to the C280, but closer in performance to the C350.

I actually did use of wiki to make a comparison between my car and the equivalent merc and audi, I know pretty much nothing of the merc and audi range.

I'm sure the C320 comes in line with the 330i. Power is similar (330 is slightly more powerful) but the Merc probably weighs a bit more.

C280 was 2005 plus which rules out my car, being a 2004 model. C350 runs close to 200kw and has a 3.5l engine so I'm more inclined to look for a C320...but whatever is around will do :rollsmile:
