Petrolheads for Pets @ Red Star Raceway 25th July 2015

Dear Petrolhead!

80 Cars, an Amazing Track and a Wonderful, Heartwarming cause.

Yes, we’re opening entries for our second annual Petrolheads For Pets event!

Don’t let the bikers’ annual Toy Runs hog all the feelgood space; Petrolheads have Hearts too!

Petrolheads for Pets and the Tokyota Crew will be hosting this year’s event at Red Star Raceway near Delmas, just off of the N4 highway.
Imperial Toyota have generously agreed to sponsor a portion of our track costs, which has allowed us to keep entry fees to a minimum (only R550 per car and R75 per passenger!).
Speed & Sound and SA Car Club Magazine’s will be covering the event (So look your best!), and Castrol will be donating spot prizes on the day.

But let’s not lose sight of the cause while we are having a great time. All proceeds (and as many donations as you can bring!) will be going to Pro Life Pet Rescue in Nelspruit,
they rescue, nurse back to health and re-home up to 400 starving, injured, abused and helpless animals per year. They have a no-kill policy and will do everything possible to
give a suffering animal the second shot at the love and happiness it deserves.

Our entries are strictly limited to 80 cars, to ensure that everyone has as much quality time on the fun and safe, but challenging 4 kilometre track as possible.
So participation is strictly on a first to pay basis and only pre-registrations will be accepted. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

We kick off at 07:30 on the 25th of July 2015 with registration and scrutineering, then we’ll have a driver’s briefing at 08:45, followed by the track opening at 9:00 sharp.
We will split entrants into four groups based on experience and/or car capacity. Your safety is our first priority!

Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for regular updates (https://www.facebook.com/petrolheadsforpets?ref=bookmarks) and make a turn at
Pro Life’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/adoptpet?fref=ts ) to see what sterling work they do, you never know, you might just end up adopting a Friend for Life!

See You There!

LOL! Max...

My wife's done two track days in her Yaris TS.
It's very much dependent on yourself - if you behave the wear to your car is minimal, if any.

For the first session, the novice class will be following behind a car so he can show everyone the lines etc. This is done slowly so you can build your confidence. That's the key, to build up slowly and keep within your own limits and experience. Hence the different classes/sessions on the day.

Awesome! Thank you! If you would like to join send me a PM with your email address, or mail [email protected], and I will forward you the registration form.

Hope to see you at RSR!

This is gonna be heavy on brakes and tires! Will drive around in eco

Due to the many sharp corners, speeds are low... But that's great - sharp corners mean lower speeds, more safety, and the confidence to safely explore your car's handling.

The guy in the video is a regular at Red Star and really caning it...!

Yah, If it's your first time I would recommend leaving all drivings aids on... :=):

I would love to go, but not sure I want to track my Z. Is it a good day out for spectators?

Yes, it's a very nice day out... even for spectators.
The facilities at Red Star is really awesome.

If you don't want to track...
No entry fee for spectators, but you are welcome to bring donations for Pro Life Pet Rescue.
There will be a limited number of "hot" laps (passenger with an experienced driver for a few laps) sessions for R100 per session.

Stigworx will also be selling a full day video VBOX coaching session for R1550.

The nice thing about these kind of track days is that everyone attending is there to have a fun time in a safe environment... it is NOT a race!! Everyone will be going round the track at their own pace and comfort level... There is no competition of who has the biggest, fastest or what ever. I can assure you that everyone is so busy doing their own thing and having fun, that no one hardly notices what the next person is doing.

The main aim for the day is for everyone to have some SAFE fun, and most importantly to collect as much as possible for the charity.

Here's some food for thought...
Regarding tracking your car in general:
- There are no taxis on racetracks
- There are no intersections, and no impatient idiots jumping the lights
- There's no traffic coming in the opposite direction. Everyone's going the same way and at roughly the same speed
- There's no trees, pedestrians, parked cars, ditches or pavements at the side of the track
- There are no potholes, roadworks, or other nasty surprises
- There are no cops, no speed limits, and no speed traps
- There are flag/fire marshals everywhere to warn you of hazards ahead and provide immediate fire response
- There's an ambulance and paramedics on duty out on the track

Regarding this event at Red Star in particular:
- Due to the many sharp corners, speeds are low
- Runoff areas are enormous, and the runoff areas are smooth and grassed
- The only real "obstacle" is the pit wall, so just be careful coming into the pit straight
- If its your first time, you will be in the novice group who will all be just as unsure as you are and taking it just as slowly and carefully
- Anyone acting irresponsibly will be kicked off

You and only you chooses how fast you want to go, and how much risk you want to take.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

I've tracked at Midvaal during their weekend practice sessions with other vehicles, so not a completely new thing to me.

I just want to go support the effort and have a nice day out.. bit of a road trip for me coming from the Vaal, which is nice.

Anyhow, see you there.
