Perplexing Issue

Hi Guys,

I just want to know if any of you have ever experienced this issue?

I drove to E-Cape this past weekend with my car (320i coupe) and on my way back I decided to fill up in Bloemfontein, immediately afterwards, the yellow engine light came on still at the garage. The car lost power until I decided to restart the car some 20kms away from the garage, and all of sudden full power was restored. I decided to book-in the car with BMW but they told me that there was nothing wrong with car, however needed to reprogrammed or something, clearly something must have gone wrong that caused this problem... any ideas???? :ty:

sounds like the car went into limp mode, then reset when you restarted it. which means the fault that caused it to go into limp mode was temporarily, might have been something to do with the refueling stop..

bmw should have been able to pick up the stored fault and what caused it. perhaps the have and decided that it was not a issue..

BMW did not say much, they just indicated that the car needed to be programmed. They did this for 2 days and gave the car back. I noticed they also reset my oil service KMs, the car was reading 15000KMs due for oil service, now it reads 25000KMs :dunno:

honestly i would not worry too much about it for now.. there are thousands of things that can cause intermittent faults that clear up by themselves , sometimes returning sometimes not.

obviously if it happens again in the near future take it back to bmw and insist that they find the cause.
