the newer cars come with a much thicker pedal than the older models, so the bolts are fine, I had a problem like that with an e36 before but just the bottom bolt was touching but just shortened it a bit and sorted

How raised are the rubber inserts?, I once had issues with a aftermarket set, wet formal shoes and aluminum not good match.
