Are these people trying to take a chance, Check the quote made out to me by the attachment to recondition my E90 320I 2009

To me it always looks suspicious when no rates are added to line items individually, instead a large amount is totalled at the bottom.

Judging by that alone I'd feel like they're taking a chance.

You could get a second hand engine for probably much much less, or try a company called D&S motor mechanic specialist, they specialise is BMW they on gumtree and clearly state their procedure and process

i too would like to know, but i'll walk away, get at least 3 quotes from different companies

Is the head gasket the only OEM part? Rebuilding a 320i engine is not worth it IMO, look at a donor motor, perhaps even a 6cyl

Too expensive for the 320i motor also the unichip is a waste of time on that motor, rather look for a recon motor, get the car moving again. The are probably buying recon and marking it up 200% at that price.
