Overrun, burble M3 E92

Hi Fanatics,
Ive got a 08 M3 E92 with min km on it (my weekend car).
Its been chipped with a freeflow xhaust by Rob Green a few years ago & must say it made a big difference to power & sound.
I would like to know if any of you Guys have been able to get the overrun, burble, backfire out of the V8 as it sounds so cool on the M4 or the Jag F type. I have checked on line and there is Evolve & Gintani that can remap to give the overrun. What i need to know is there any other way i can get this done as ive already got the M3 mapped & chipped, also can the overrun stuff up the engine.
Any info would be appreciated.

keep cool, G

(Hey Guys im a Newbie at this forum stuff, so go easy)

Don't do it. NA engines sound best at 8000rpm. Jag and we m4 etc might sound good with overrun, but v8 screams waaaaaaay better at high revs. Not sure about e92, but e46 m3 had a tune for 'backfires'. Not a fan personally

To create backfire or as we call it burble  , dont you require to run lean and thus add unburned fuel into the exhaust which is creating the burble effect?

Well, you dump a bunch of fuel the moment you climb off the accelerator. All that fuel gets burnt in the zorst creating the pops.

Hi Schalk. Mags are in for repairs, will send pics when car is back. sweet

Thanks Guys for the posts. I just need to know if i can tune or remap without doing anything major. i spoke to Rob Green a while ago and he said i would have to redo the whole xhaust system with valves to get the burble.

The way I've been watching those over run vids online...the gintani e92 map sounds great.
Goodluck with this mod...send vids when it's done.

Just LOL:roflol: I would love to see him build an exhaust that makes the car burble:roflol::roflol::roflol:

Burble tunes are 50/50 at the moment in the states, some run flawlessly for many KMs and others fry sensors every couple 1000km, I know of 2 tuners in the states who can and have done burble tunes but still suggest their clients don't do it

Thanks ZN, yeah it seems very debatable & risky. I test drove the Jag F type V6 & V8 and Crap!!!! do they sound so grand with the burble, how the heck do they get it right?. a Mate of mine bought an M4 & has the Xhaust booster & when on sounds just as Tit as the Jag.

Yeah that sounds more like a klap than a burble...will a straight pipe or very free set up exhaust not help the car make that?

Not sure, as far as i've researched the car needs to be mapped but i think a free flow does help
My M135i EWG had AC Schnitzer chip, MPE exhaust and Supersprint catless downpipe - had some similar sounds!

For one, definitely catless, running a pop and burble tune catted is just looking for it...

What I have found in the E46 M3's with said burble and pop tune is that the fuel mileage goes out the door in a big way, as well as the throttle response low down, as you basically run the timing waaay retarded and way rich, like Ratslaaf said, that is what gives you the pops and bangs. Problem is the ECU isn't designed with an "overrun" map, so you are forcing stuff on the car that the electronics dont shmaak nothing. Every time you get back on the gas the car stumbles and farts and then takes off again, moerse annoying.

The newer cars have dedicated overrun maps that the ECU calls up when it does detect overrun, so they don't take that much of a hit regarding fuel flow etc. Also, when you get back on the gas the ECU immediately reverts back to a normal operating table, so you don't get the stumble and hesitation with the car running at 15 degrees ATDC that now has to pop up to 30-40 degrees BTDC at the next higher load site in the map as you are squeezing the throttle on. Trust me, been down that road plenty, keep it as it is, do software that will improve performance, and open up the pipes to make that big V8 scream...

I have a stainless steel full exhaust from the branches in my clio sport 2l na.. i get the burble.. i got the burble before i had the car remapped... this tells me you can also have it done with a straighter exhaust system... mine went from a 57mm to a 63mm and removed both cats... still have 2 silencers for each outlet and a box in the middle for sound not to be too crazy...

Not saying Rob Green exhaust is no good but you can definitely have modified or replaced to give the burble when off the throttle..

Heck i have even heard it on an ac snitzer exhaust on your m3..

My cousin has the same car btw and even with standard exhaust sounds great.. no burble but still..

Btw that exhaust in the video above is WAYYYYYYY TOOOOOO LOUUUDDD!

you'll get sick of it after just a day or 2..

I dunno if this is sw.. but im sure this what you going for and its not too loud either..

So goodluck...
