Original windscreen replacement with insurance

Hi Guys.

So I need to have my windcreen on the G20 replaced. I would like to have it replaced with an original BMW part, through insurance.

How does one go about it? I've spoken to one dealership, but they do not work with insurance. I'm guessing going the PG glass route will get me an aftermarket glass.

Anyone have theirs done recently?

Hi bud, insurance (PG Glass and the likes) will install an OEM glass if the vehicle is under warranty and less than a year old or within warranty and older than a year (Depends on the agreement the glass company has with the insurer)

If the insurer authorises PG to install a generic/aftermarket glass, you can request OEM (Have that fight with the insurer) or pay in the difference, out off pocket for the OEM glass.

PM me if you need anymore info.

All depends on your insurer and your policy.

I generally call up my broker and insist on a OEM glass replacement.

Often the comment would be that the car is out of warranty therefore they are not compelled to fit an OEM glass, too which I just state there is OEM on the car at the moment, replace like for like.

Tbh, I haven't had any real issues with this.

I had my X3's windscreen fitted by Glassfit through my insurance (cracked screen). When they phoned me to make booking they asked me what my preference was and I specifically asked for an OEM one since it has all the sensors and cameras in the windscreen and I didn't want to take a chance on an aftermarket one. My access is a percentage of the windscreen cost, so I just paid a bit more for the access on the OEM windscreen. My insurance didn't have any issue with this.

Hi bud, PG and Glasfit can quote on OEM as well. With my insurance I have to pay a R500 excess if I want OEM and no excess if I go for a Shatterprufe.

Call insurance.... Log a claim..... Say you want OEM glass. Easy as that. The mobile glass fitment that came through ordered the glass from Bmw.

On My insurance OEM glass has a 10% excess.... which isnt an issue with me.
