Ordered a Eibach kit for 116i

Hi Guys.
I went to Autoquip today,i have always had a drop on my cars and thought i wonder if a drop would work on my 116i being on 205/55/16 tyres and all.

Basically its lowering springs made up for the 1 series and its a 30/25mm so therefore not LOW as in these Citi Golofs with tyres rubbing the arches.

What your thoughts on this kit?

I have a good connection with the guys at Tygervalley Autoquip and they ordered me a kit , should be here 10th july.

Kit +fitment+ alignment = R3600

PM Moranor on the forum he can get H&R kits , I think he quoted me R 2600 or so for 35front and 20 rear drop . :thumbs:

unfortunately the H&R kit for this car is still pricy:

F50mm R30mm R 3230

F60mm R40mm R 3485

they are lower but quite a bit but also more pricy on this car...


the Koni springs that are -30mm all round come in at R 2660 so a much better price for this car...

fitment and alignment should be about R700 most places...

My understanding is fitting springs to stock shocks might wear them faster. Your stock springs are linear, right? Eibach's are progressive. IDeally you fit shocks at some stage that are designed for aftermarket springs, such as Koni Yellows (not FSD's - those are for stock springs). Anyway, I never had issues with Eibach's on my previous car and loved the rock solid ride. Enjoy.

fusion01 you sure the stock springs are linear? hardly anyone uses linear anymore...

high end springs are designed to work well with stock shocks so the handling will be improved but obviously there will be a massive performance increase when running performance shocks with them

135i m-sport springs are linear. More predictable than progressive. They have their benefits. I think the Eibachs would be a little stiffer but not by much.

i have also read the e90 has linear springs that could be the reason people complain about the ride so much... but i have not verified this to make sure its true... not sure why bmw would combine linear springs with runflats seems like a recipe for a harsh ride...

'Seems like'? Lol. It is which is why I'd not want run-flats. The ride even with linear springs is as smooth as butter. In fact I'd swop the shocks for Koni FSD's to stiffen up a little. Can't really drop with springs as it's already low and scrapes on drive entry / exits on our crappy somewhat-graded roads.

Anyway to the OP if you had stock suspension you can't go wrong with Eibach. The way it should have been from factory

Inflation in SA is a killer. I paid R2,500 @ Autoquip in '06. Springs and fitment.

I replaced my RFTs/Alloys (205/55/16) with non-RFTs/CSL Reps (225/40/18).

Going over speed-bumps/dips/turning at full lock, 4 people in the car and the boot fully packed, not a single scrape or touch since I've had them.
