Guys, i need your opinion please:

I came across an owner of a e34 who is selling. His car is stock standard apart from Alpina Replicas, and a bootspoiler.

Now these are the two items I want for my car.

So this is my question.

If I give him my 15" 540 wheels with good tyres, swop out the bootlids and I give him R 2 000,00 cash, am I being a cheapskate, or is this a realistic deal.

Personally I think it is a good deal for me. Do you think it is a good deal for him?

Your honest opinions will be appreciated. I don't want to come across as a cheapskate.

Unless he is not bothered about what/who gets the car after him, then he might, but though you compensate him for the lesser value he might now get, those would still be the items that sell the car for him.

How much he want for the car?

He seemed interested.

The line was really bad, so we couldn't really hear each other properly.

Bottomline, he didn't say no, and I didn't even talk money yet.

It's an 1989 525i for 28k Hellas

I would guess it comes down to the other guy, make him an offer and see what his response is. Both of you can talk and meet at a reasonable price, that hopefully leaves both of you in a good space.

Jandre,

That car of his is worth R2.50

He probably will go for it to get the extra 2k and sell the car for exactly what he was going to sell it for anyway.

I figured if it is on the gum for 28k, someone will haggle him down to, let's say, 25k.

If I give him 2k and parts, he can market for 26k, and sell for 23k.

Don't think you being a cheapskate. Sounds like a reasonable offer, make it, and see what happens from there. Good luck.

Make the offer. You can be as cheapskate as you want with unknown people. That is the only way you will ever buy a bargain.
What is the worst that can happen?
He can't bite through the phone :)
