My M3 project which never started has been aborted
After having sold the car and most of the parts, I am now left with only the following:
Exhaust (excluding branches)
Additional S50B30 crank
Engine
Background: I bought a 4 door e36 M3 which was in a terrible state (original engine was replaced with a 3.0l and had a huge hole in the block and the interior, although all there was tattered, some engine parts missing) in the hopes that I could resurrect it. However, after struggling to source parts at reasonable prices and realising that this would be too big an expense, I gave up on the project but not before purchasing a replacement engine.
The head was sent to the engineers to be tested and repaired and the relevant groceries were purchased for the build. A year and a half later and I have still not had the engine assembled.
Now my question is - do i sell what I have as is or do I build the engine and sell it as a complete rebuilt unit?
My gut tells me to sell as is so that the buyer can do the assembly themself and know exactly what is up with the engine (that is what i would want as a buyer). What do you knowledgeable folks think?
What is a reasonable price to ask for the sale of the engine either way - assembled and as is (in parts)?
Or should i just keep it until I am financially able to transplant it into a e36 or e30 in a couple years time?
