Only reaching 5000 RPM--What's the problem??

Hello Everyone....my first post...
My '95' 328i was recently diagnosed with the following (long list of) problems:
-airflow meter
-Camshaft / Crankshaft sensor
-Tank ventilation valve
-Water pump
-Oil separator
-Clutch fan (viscose)
-Injection sensor

I have replaced the airflow meter, camshaft sensor, water pump and oil separator. Though the car performs better--it still does not go over 5000 RPM, preventing the true power.

What do you all think I need to check out that may not have been diagnosed?

welcome :)

check out the threads, there is plenty info, gizmo will be able to sort you out with some parts if need be.
sorry i cant help on this, my first though would have been canshaft sensor coz i had that prob on my E36.
shot in the dark on this and guys correct me please, but is the timing right?

did you replace the crank sensor or cam sensor?
i also have an e36 328i, my cam and crank sensor was faulty, also airflow sensor but even with that faulty it revved over 5000rpm. i would have thought airflow meter:dunno: but seeing as though you replaced that...

guys help me out here, but is the airflow sensor and the airflow meter the same thing? like will the airflow meter come with the airflow sensor if you replace it or do you get it seperatly?

Thanks for the input so far...

@ sykotic....I only replaced the camshaft....i did not replace the crankshaft sensor, as i thought that only the camshaft relates to the car's power.

An airflow meter and airflow sensor are the same thing...i believe...Correct me if i am wrong...

@ Gazza....That timing suggestion is something that i think i can check out....

thanks....Oh and i will check out other threads to see their inputs...

Does the car go over 5000 rpm when revved in neutral ?
Imho airflow meter would affect mixture , may give lumpy idle , pull plug off while car is idling and see difference .
Water pump , oil seperator and viscous fan no effect .
Crankshaft sensor , may give wrong signal to ecu and retard timing , causing car to rev slowly and not high . Clean and check resistance , may be stuffed .
Good luck.

@ Raybimmer....in neutral i can redline... i will now purchase a crankshaft sensor and clean out any parts...thanks!!
