Older but still a great car

I pop in here often to see if there is anything interesting to read..or informative.
I was looking for something else and came across a photo I had taken of my 2006 530d the other day.

And I was struck by how good looking what is an old shape now still is…
And I don’t care that I don’t drive a new BMW, honestly other than the latest 5 series or perhaps even the latest 7 series, little out there appeals to me.

This particular baby has only done 90 000 km and still drives like new, putting lots out there to shame in the performance stakes.
I also have an older e39 530 d which is also in great shape and I thought it might be nice to see other members who have really nice examples of older cars, and perhaps post a pic or two here.

Would love to see some pics of older cars that are really still clean examples, given their age

Bearing in mind this baby is now 12 years old.

Not the best of photos..
An E60 550 2008 model with 64000 km on her now.
It saddens me that she is actually worth nothing but what a car..
She really still is new, active suspension, night vision, comfort seats etc. etc. etc.
10 year old car which I drive seldom but really enjoy when I do.

My take is I would rather have a choice of cars to drive that are well maintained that all my money sunk into one new car..
I am sure there is no financial sense in my thinking but they are all paid for and I would rather have a choice of these than any singular car new.

I guess I am stuck with them as I could never bring myself to sell for Toyota Tazz pricing but I get great enjoyment from them all.

So again, anyone got some photos of Older cars that you really have cared for and still own?

Stunning Merc there sir, looks absolutely mint and testament to merc's over-engineering in the 80's !! makes me wish I still had my w123.

Beautiful e60 as well, I've developed a soft spot for 6 cylinder turbocharged German diesels , 530d an 330d, C320 CDI, and the audi 3.0 tdi !

Yesterday I bought a 2000 model 1 owner low mileage 160i Gle auto corolla. (In the 18 cars owned I've never owned a toyota)

In my opinion this was the best Corrola shape, it was all down road after this shape.

14 Years old and by no means is it in a condition that i would like it to be. a few small things that need to be done - Probably about R15k worth of work, but love it more than any of our newer cars.

No I don't think they do

Unless you have driven one you dont actually realise how well engineered these cars were.

4 speed gearbox is perfectly matched to the Engine, they are actually incredible.

You can drive in 4th gear from 60 to 200 without changing gear :smilebounce:

And through the corners once you get used to the initial lean, they track true.

Meet the second oldest in the family

2002 e39 530d with just over 250 000 km on her now but runs like an absolute dream.
The gear-boxes are a little sensitive to abuse so I always let her wake up gently..
Before I ask her for anything but when I do she delivers

Fantastic, fantastic car and probably my most favourite to drive.
She just does everything so well.

I was coming back from Nelspruit the other day and got pulled over by the ghost squad..
Who confessed that he was worried he wasn’t going to be able to catch me.
I was just cruising..
I explained that she wasn’t comfortable at anything less than 2500 rpm and was happier closer to 3.
Its not my fault they made the car like that!
Anyway, I got off of that one with a smile and handshake.

If you can find a nice one, or one that has potential to be nice I think these are great value for money.

With an older car we know what to expect and in most instances can fix it if its broken.
