Oil-separator valve (4,4-litre)

My 1999 (8/98) 740i has been giving issues with hesitant running in what I thought was the "second phase" of warming up. But eventually it had gotten so bad that it is basically impossible to drive.

After a lot searching, Google, Youtube, etc, a workshop told me that the oil-separator valve is vrot. They ordered one via BMW Northcliff and after weeks of waiting, Northcliff BMW told the workshop that the valve is on their manifesto, it should arrive from BMW any moment now.

But it didn't, because the part is now declared "obsolete". All that I can hope for is a second-hand unit.

Any advice or pointers on where to start asking for one? :eek:mgwaiting:

This is what you need 11617501563 and it is available.

It fits at the back of the intake manifold and when it goes bad so does the idle.

The oil separator is something completely different.

You shall also need a bunch of gaskets and O rings and I suggest that you do not skimp on getting them.

Yep, that's the thing. I got one from a scrapyard for R650. I asked for the oil separator and that's what they brought me from a running engine.

Will have it installed by a workshop, I don't think I have the ability to do it myself.
