Guys,

I have been driving with a faulty oil light sensor for a while. It comes on (yellow) for teh first 30 seconds after start-up and goes away. I do however regularly check my but woudl like to chnage this sensor. The last price I got from the agents was close to R3000. Anyone in Durban, knows where I can get this cheaper?

ive been told that if you remove the sensor and clean it out properly then you should fix the problem.

you could approach Goldwagen.

Just make sure that it is only the sensor that is faulty, and that it is not something more serious, like reduced oil pressure.

Where is this sensor located? I have the same problem.

In the sump - the oil light will be orange if oil level is low. Another sensor on the motor will make it show red if oil pressure is low.

The reason that I never replaced it was that I knew there is a redundant safeguard i.e. the oil pressure switch. When thsi comes on obviously I will have to stop immediately. My other mitigation is check the dipstick regularly although my car does not take any oil between services. I will try and clean the sensor though. Many thanks

Suppose sump will have to be removed to get to it

No - just drain oil and screw it off from the outside - can see it quite clearly if you remove the sump protector plate.

Your oil pressure is too low - you will notice your camshafts running noisily as they are basically running dry - if you drive it you will break it:thumbdo:

Oil snsor in sump if the orange light comes on when you start and it goes dead after 5-10 secs. I got mine from Motormec UK it was R900 with shipping

But Ask Coisman He knows where to get it cheaper
