Athlone Winter Blanket Run 2015

The first edition of this annual event will kick off on the 25th July 2015. Open to all automobiles, with as many wheels attached to it as you'd like. We refuse to discriminate but we insist on the donation of YOUR BLANKET to help keep Cape Town warm.

Help us, and the City, reach it's goal of 500 blankets!

The rendezvous point is at 10h00, departing at 10h30 sharp, @ SUNRISE BEACH parking area, from where the City of Cape Town's Traffic officials will escort the convoy.

!NB! Display of your blanket/s or payment of R50 per vehicle, to our officials will ensure your ride an entrance sticker to the Athlone Stadium, which is the end venue to the run. Entry stickers are only for those who join us from the rendezvous point and remain part of the convoy.

If you not participating in the convoy and going straight to the stadium....

Adults: R20
Kids : R10 ( age 6 to 13 )
Under 6 FREE
*Please note, those who join us from the rendezvous point and convoy with us don't pay at the gate(driver & occupants).

Athlone's Ward Councilor, Suzette Little, will be in attendance to accept and distribute the blankets to the organisations who are invited. These are the organisations who work tirelessly to feed and keep Athlone and surrounding areas, warm.

Hey Guys,

Will update thread title to make it official:

Lets get a List of members attending.

I will contact the organisers and see whats what, alternatively, we meet at a spot prior to the start of the event and all convoy to the event premises and donate our blankets.

Not sure when the event will (has) taken place but thought it was only 25 July 2015.

Im sure we will still have a charity run on 25 July 2015 be it the above or another proposed event.
