OBD2 Auto Diagnostic Tool

Hi Guys

I'm looking for a decent diagnostic tool but really have no idea what to look for with these

Any help or guidance from the forum would be great

So far I have looked at these

Does it have to be brand specific in terms of the vehicle model its used for?

I'm looking for something to use on most/all brands but nothing too fancy

Hi there

From my experience (quite new to INPA :smilebounce, the tools you have in the links you posted should work if you intend to only read fault codes. They may be able to clear codes as well. If you are looking to do anything more or want anything else from you scan tool I would suggest getting a K+DCan Cable with INPA software. They are quite easy to find online and much more versatile where BMW is concerned. I am sure some of the people on the forum would be able to point you in the direction to source one locally as well. Do you just download the Inpa software for free,or how does that work?

I am also quite keen to get this setup for myself.

I got my software on a disc with the cable. I guess it should be available for download somewhere. I'll have a squiz on the net and get back to you
