Noizy Clutch

Hi guys, I drive an E36 323i and it had a whining noise from the clutch ever since I got the car. Problem is that the noise has increased over the last few drives.

The clutch isn't slipping and the gear change is still quite smooth, and the whining noise is only there when the clutch is released. As soon as I press the clutch the noise stops.

I also feel a slight vibration when resting my foot on the clutch.

Can anyone advise me on what the problem could be?
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Could be thrust bearing.
I would try introducing yourself to the forum before using us, then check if the problem still exists.....
Further to that, best bet is to pull the gearbox and replace the thrust bearing.

How big of a job is it to replace it? And where can I get a quality part for a decent price?

Went into the shop had to have new clutch kit an.Flywheel installed. I suggest u check this out a.s.a.p. That was about 8 years ago. Now it cost a bit more if you dont have it looked at.

You can check with most spares shops. Goldwagen , Midas etc......one days job to fit if your clutch is gone if not two hours work to fit the bearing. Though most people will just refresh everything while doing it

I will definitely look into it a.s.a.p. I think I will also go the route of getting a complete clutch kit and refresh everything.

Thanks a lot for the help..
