Noisy lifters?

hi,
anyone have experience with "bleeding" the lifters on a E36 M3 motor?
have recently done a complete engine overhaul and my lifters are a bit noisy.

this seems to be a common issue.
a couple of the overseas forums recommend "bleeding" the lifters.
i still have "run-in" oil so i dont know if i should tackle it now or wait for a filter and oil change at 1000km?
my mechanic and the guys at tunetech recommend i wait for the oil change.
but dont want to damage the cams or shims or lifters.

bleed your lifters if they have been out of the motor for an extended amount of time.
rev the motor at 2500-3000rpm for 10 minutes , this should get the lifters quiet

remove the petrol pump fuse and crank the motor for 10-15 sec, this will get oil to the lifters

does that sound right? dont want to do something stupid now.

anyone have experience?

does this engine have hydraulic lifters? i dont think it does... you might need a valve shim adjustment...

Dont the M's have solid lifters? I know the Us spec M3 engines have hydraulic lifters as they are basically stroked M50 engines

yeah they are solid lifters.

the guys who did my head did re-shim the rockers.

now i sit with two possibilities-
1- perhaps there are a few shims that need replacement and are making a noise.
2- the current "run-in" oil may make the rockers noisy for what ever reason.

i have only done 200km, so ill see if they settle.
taking it very easy.

i will do a oil change next week. if the noise is still there i will have no option but to pull the shims.

i was just wondering if anyone else had issues with this??
and if "bleeding the lifters" is common? or is that only on hydraulic lifters?
