Noisy idle and vibration after starter change

Morning Guys

After we did a starter change on a 2006 525i auto (e63) the idle is very noisy and there is vibration when pulling away. Also vibration especially on uphill

Stupid question........ does any fluid drain (or possibly drain) when removing other parts to get to the starter.

On cold mornings it feels like the car fights on acceleration and even feels like slowing down harder than normal when the foot is off the acceleration pedal

No warning lights, ATF is fine.

Thanks

Oh ok, my E90 also has this vibration metal noise when I pull away specially when it is a uphill but otherwise it isnt there. I do think that it is to do with something that is a tiny bit loose, but not loose enough to notice except when the engine is really taking a lot of strain and the motor has to work.

I hope someone with the problem got a solution to this but maybe just relook all the bolts on the intake manifold, dont think the air filter box will do that noise. Hope this makes sense as it is what I am telling myself everytime my eyes squirts the moment I hear that tiny metal noise as I pull away. I have also tried troubleshooting it be disabling, i.e switching the aircon off, and then pull away uphill. The noise is then just softer or fainter (if this word exists).

But do hope someone can help. Why did you go through the engine bay to the starter and not from the exhaust under the car up if I may ask.

That is exactly my problem as you explain yours Lizzard.

No idea why i went from the top haha. All bolts have been double checked twice

All fluids checked

I would remove the intake manifold once more to make sure all hoses are properly connected, and to make sure none of the rubber gaskets on the manifold are missing. They tend to fall off sometimes when replacing the manifold.

It depends on the noise and vibration. It could be engine mounts, it could be a boost leak, it could be a faulty part... I can only speak from my own experience.

Strip and inspect and get diagnostics done to see what errors pop up.

No fluids. Only removed the intake manifold and the air filter (along with the hoses) to get to the starter
Did you loosen the gearbox cross member to get access to the starter motor bolts?

Did you disconnect your O2 sensors? Maybe you got them mixed up on reinstall.
