Morning guys.

So i have my e90 for about 2 months now but this weekend was the first time i had anyone sit in it. The seatbelt warning sound does not come on. It should right?

Can anyone explain why this doesn't work when the drivers side does?

Thanks

yup. BMW cost cutting 101. My 323i had it but the 320d's didn't. I was told by the dealer that the reason was "cost rationalisation":RedNo:

My daughters R175k Peugeot 208 has sensors for front seat passenger but my R 636K X3 doesn't have a passenger seatbelt warning.

Frankly, I think that the whole seatbelt thing is BS. If you are dumb enough not to wear your seatbelt in the car then suffer the consequences. Its imho the same category as "Caution: May contain nuts" that you see on a packet of peanuts. WTF did you expect "Roasted Salted Jumbo Peanuts" to contain? Sunflower seeds?

I agree with you, however it would be nice to know why it isn't there.

Not all of them have the passenger sensor, my F30 320i and current 335i don't have it, its actually an extra on the spec sheet LOL! :roflol::roflol:

As far as I am aware, if your vehicle was built without a seat occupancy detector, the function cannot be activated/retrofitted.

"Once sitting in the front passenger seat, the front passenger is not reminded to fasten their seat belt. There is no visual or audible warning that the seat belt has not been fastened.

With the introduction of option 0230 (additional scopes of equipment specific to EU vehicles), the front passenger seat occupancy detection sensor mat is no longer part of the standard equipment.

The following vehicles do not have seat occupancy mats installed:
F01, F02, F03, F04: manufactured since 01/2010
E81, E82, E87, E88, E90, E91, E92, E93: manufactured since 03/2009
E70, E71, E72, E83, E84, E89: since start of series production
F07, F10, F11, F12, F13, F18: since start of series production
R55, R56, R57: manufactured since 09/2009
R58, R59, R60: since start of series production"

My 2cents, if you are sitting in a moving vehicle, you should not need a reminder to buckle up! :RedNo:

test drove a 2014 yaris , all 5 seats had seat belt sensors ! :roflol:

Yup, my brother had a Peugeot 308 in the UK and this had 5 sensors.

Its such BS to delete something like this. How much does it really save in production costs. Its like ABS and airbags. There shouldn't be a car on the road built today that doesnt have these features as standard.

If it is standard across the board then the cost of the components by virtue of volume should come down anyway.

While on the subject, a bit of a hijack I realise, but the same question can be asked how BMW justify the massive price difference between the 320i and the 328i. They drvetrain is to all intents and purposes identical yet there was about a R100k difference in base price. So in effect, buyers of the 328i were paying that difference for a chip tuned 320i

Or have I missed something???

Same theory with 2x4 vs 4x4 dbl cabs. Front diff, transfer case and lever (in the case of the Hilux) you pay R50k. Eina!!
