Not sure if this has been posted.

Geez.... new version already on the cards! models used to get around 10 years life span once upon a time but the next generation is apparently due 2016/17 along with M5 2017 or so!!!

BMW replaces models every 6-7 years.

As far as i know BMW will redesign every 4 years and normally gets released about 3 to 4 years later.

It somehow seems less so these days though -
Wikipedia stats: some previous generation models spilled over into next generation years as well.

I think the overlap is due to M cars running an extra year or two.

There is overlap for M cars (as said above) and coupes/convertibles in the case of the e36/e46.
