So the new 7 is also going to have the 'interesting' new grille. What do you think?

Really not a fan of these oversized grilles BMW insist on using. I would rather have them design some interesting curves and shapes on the headlights and bumper itself.

Making these oversized kidney grilles almost makes there job of designing the car easier since there's less car to design after sticking on some huge ass kidney grilles.

It does look awful, but the 7 series almost always is the most ostentatious of the BMW range, so I'm sure they'll soften it up for future cars down the model line. (hope anyway).

My fav 7er grills were on the one in the 007 movie. They got out of control after that.

I think the new one is active so it must be big.

I'm sure if you were to look at engine bay temps of the older engines vs the newer "High Strung" "High Power" engines of today, you would find its harder to keep the engine cooler these days.

With all the required radiators and inter-coolers, you need large openings on the front. You can only do so much with the lower air dams. As long as they keep them still aesthetically appealing along with the function they perform, I don't mind..

*Note: On the Previous Merc and on the M3, they have Horizontal Coolers to try get as many of them in front of the Airflow.

*Edit: Just look at how much surface area the M3 needs. For this they are going to continue offering larger openings to offer up airflow. I think its purely a design thing.

Not the best but at least a step in the right direction...oblivion

I wonder where they find their focus groups

You could probably knock a pedestirian or cow in that thing and have the entire body land up in your engine bay :hammerhead:

They becoming bigger with each new model but allow more air flow for better performance. We will eventually get used to the looks. I like the new design grills especially on the sedans/coupes.
