Good Morning Ora,

BMW used same engine across the range,
So the diesel engines have proved to be robust and fuel efficient. 2.0 has exemplary fuel efficiency.

The 2 series is a great platform which is very nimble.

Its a buy! Depending on the specific conditions of the specific car you are looking at.

Regards,
Vince

Welcome Orapeleng... the only question you should ask yourself here, assuming full service history is available for either F22 or F30, is whether you need the practicality of two extra doors. If so, go F30, if not go F22. You can't go wrong with either. The engine in that configuration is a peach.

Making me miss my car now...

But welcome to the forum!

Welcome, little experience but agreed with the above. The 2 is prettier, smaller and more stylish but less practical and usable.

In general coupe's hold value a bit better than sedans of similar price/model/spec so something else to consider as well.

Thank you for the warm welcome guys. Appreciated.

Is there a cap on mileage that you have regarding these options? Because the cars a at least 4 years old and when I search through the net at least 85% of them are high on mileage such as 90 000km.

20,000km per year is average mileage.
4 years being 80,000km seems reasonable.

It'll be a mileage determined by your price range - obviously as a general rule lower miles are better, also worth considering that extending BMW plan in years (but not miles) is affordable, extending the miles as well becomes quite expensive. So if your aim is to do 10-20k per year and you want to extend the plan it might be worth finding a lower mile 4yr old car?

Hi all,

Minor update, I never got either F30 series and the 220d (2018). The 2 series would have worked a few year back but now family is growing so need space for more people

I’m now in the market looking a G20 320d/i from 2019 to 2020 models.

Anyone who has experience on the g20 such they can advise on what to look out for? And besides the bmw motorplan are there workshops that you can recommend that can maintain the car and do regular services?

Thanks

Hi

I responded on your other post (G20 320i).

If your family is growing, a 3 series will get small for you quickly, unless your family are small sized. A 5 series or an X3 could be better for that application. Just my 2c

Hi

I hear you but yes my family isn’t too large to require anything bigger than 3 series but the 2 series is also two small and the 2 door would serve as an obstacle, we’re a family of 3.

3 series will work.
Also consider a used 5 series (these tend to be in better condition because of older buyers who typically buy them).
The boot is huge and swallows up a pram and other stuff.
