Welcome.

Ok... More power??? Well how much are we talking here? Cause software, downpipes, a decat and exhaust/branches will help free up some ponies, but not a whole lot to make you that much faster. It will liven up the response, and make her louder, but that's about it really. Also make her more fuel efficient. She will feel faster, but some dude in a GTI will just buy stage 1 software and you'll be left chasing again... stupid Golfs... But you are in Cape Town, so maybe not, you dont suffer the 20% loss of power we do up here at the reef.

These NA BMW engines are already damn powerful for their size. Its a pity we lose so much power up here in JHB due to the altitude. The only real way of getting more power is opening up the engine and changing expensive parts. More aggressive Cams, bigger intake, etc.

The biggest and cheapest way to get more power, is to save weight. And that unfortunately isn't an option on a daily drive unless you are going to turn her into a track car. I don't see you doing this with your car.

I had an e46 with a 2.5 litre engine a little while back. After months of research, nothing was going to give me the power I needed except for going force induction. And wow it made a difference.

So, how much power do you need? If its just 10kw extra and more response, then do de cat, exhaust, software, CAI... and a good oil service.

If you want more... things become expensive and lots of time.

Another small thing I need help with...

I got the tiny M3 boot spoiler to finish the backend off nicely! My BMW dealership quoted me R5500 which I think is ridiculous, so I just got a generic Japanese import(at least I think its japanese?cos you know everything is "Made in Japan" hehe) at Extreme Motorsport in CPT.It cost me R2800, including the paintjob!!Bargain IMO

Now I need help on where to fit it on the bootlid...

The guy I bought it from told me that it has to be fitted not on the edge of the bootlid, but slightly deeper(a little closer to the rear window side). He told me to stick it almost i fingers' thickness from the bootlid's edge!!is this true?cos I haven't really taken notice of this on a real M3, and there aren't that many of them in my town (only one M3 in my town of which I know about in fact!!!)

I really don't want to F-it up cos I've heard the 3M tape is a bitch to remove once its stuck!!

Help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi there nemesis and thanks for taking the time to reply!!
Well as I said i would like to keep the motorplan in tact till the end(another year or so).But yes thats exactly what i want...only another 10kw or 15 kw would do wonders for me!!The car just feels a little sluggish.Probably just the heavy body with all the modern safety and luxury equipment it carries around I suppose?

But its just plain kak that my brother in his Golf 5 GTi DSG gives me a hiding when we do robot-to-robot!!!

I think the software remap would do the trick-but does it actually increase kw??and can it be removed/turned off fairly easily before my car goes in for a routine service? And what is CAI???

Thanks again man!!
