Well, consumers are becoming increasingly individualistic, thats why cars have become SO customisable. A car is a possession in the public eye and in so doing communicates something about the driver whether he or she likes it or not or is aware of it or not.

A Key is also part of that as when you are not in your car people still want to display their brand to others, this is further customising that and giving users a chance to personalise something which they 'show off' with in essence.

haha my thesis aka research study was based on this.. too interesting love it.

That is true

I am guessing I should have said: I don't see the point for myself - drive the car I drive not because it is a posing or showing off tool, but because I like it and I wanted it.

Looks good but think it's overpriced for something to put your key in.

The "show off" factor is exactly why BMW implemented their own little strategy with the new 2012 3-series key fobs.

Blue = M
Red = Sport
etc.etc.

i think the colours are more to express the individualism of.. well.. individuals.. makes u feel a bit more special that you are not part of a one size fits all strategy.. :)

In a system where that more and more relying on one size engine fitted to all models :rollsmile:

haha but u cant see it, so people dont care too much for that..!
