Need to do a check on a vehicle based in CPT before I purchase

Hi Guys

I plan on purchasing a Z4M from Cpt but need to check the car before I go and do a final check and finalize the purchase.

I was thinking of using Dekra to do a full technical inspection. From what I read , it looks like a comprehensive check of the vehicle . It is quite expensive but may be worth it if anything is wrong.

Any cpt fanatics that can assist ?

Also need to get full MP and service history .

Any advice will be appreciated.

Hmmm, im not sure how much i would trust dekra to find.

When i purchased my M3 in durban, I had them do the Approved Used Certification check which was quite comprehensive. But i stood there in the workshop and looked underneath the car myself.. and they still missed a few things.

Make sure you get a compression test. What is the mileage on the car?

I work close to Pinelands as well Chavoos... let me know if you want me to do a preliminary check before you spend money on Dekra...

I am not completely convinced with Dekra...

They check things like, Does it have a seatbelt

My brother used Dekra before purchasing his 335i and was quite pleased with their check. Just make sure its the full inspection.

They will also, after inspection, certify that the car has been fully tested and all seems find for roadworthy.

Personally i would not bother with any of the franchise places. Find a proper bmw workshop and pay them 1 or 2k to really inspect it for all the known foibels of a BMW & M car.

yip get someone that knows what to look out for to check the car...

Dekra did an inspection on my car and passed it but all my shocks and water&oil pipes were fully buggered!

Perhaps they only did an electrical check

Also, please make sure you are aware of the normal s54 risk areas (valve clearances, vanos, Rod bearings) as these apply to any car with this engine regardless of condition
