Need help on buying a used BMW!

I've recently come into contact with someone who's selling a '98 BMW 3 Series Sedan for R20,000. She insists she simply has no more use for it as she has been using a more economically viable vehicle.

I'm very cautious of this low price, and would like advice on what to look for when I go in for inspection? At this price, I expect I'm getting shafted, but I want to give it a chance.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

Quick Edit: The Mileage on the vehicle itself is 430,000 Kilometers. I'm not sure how the '98 engines handle high mileage, personally.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Id start just behind the front number plate and check everything from there to just before the rear number plate.

(Assuming it has number plates)

Hope this helps.

Agreed. If this doesn't check out then shaft her before she shafts you.

I know someone who recently paid 23k for a 400000km+ 328i. Uses a bit of oil and the windscreen was cracked but otherwise in good shape. What do you want to do with the car?
