Need Advice ... Peeved

Guys I am really peeved of now.

On Friday my son needed to go to Alberton in a hurry, I said I will take him as I needed some stuff as well. So I pulled out the M5 and then made a quick stop @ the Engen garage close to me just for a wash and go at the car wash (supposed to be the best one in town) as the car has been standing for 3 weeks and was full of dust, They sprayed off the car with water but the dust was persistent and did not just want to wash off, so they said they just want to wash it off with the soap. So after inspecting the washing equipment I allowed them to wash the car (What a friggin !@#$#% mistake) when they rinsed of the car the water was sheeting just sitting there and not running off like it should. (6 hours of polishing down the drain)

I then asked to see the car soap they are using, can you believe written on top of the can is HD Degreaser and looks like Prepsol. I blew my top and demanded to see the owner of the car wash, who was not available. I took the owners number and left (Lost cause as the phone was never answered).

So I stop there today and low and behold the owner is there, I then proceed to confront her and asked directly why they use prepsol to wash the cars, as it strips the polish of the car and can dull and fade the paintwork. She then replies that it can not be the problem as they dilute the prepsol on a 1 to 5 bases, WTF it's like saying she washed my car with hydrochloric acid, but I must not worry she only used one drop instead of 5.

She also further reckons that she has been doing this for 2 years now and that I am the first one to complain about it, so I am wrong.

Now the advice I need is now, how do I handle this further, I am busy polishing and claying my car from scratch again, but she is destroying peoples property over time, and this is bothering me, how can I stop her from doing this.

Moral of the story, wash your own car or drive it dirty. Never trust a car wash!

Unfortunately I agree. You can pretty much assume that most car washes will do something stupid somewhere in their wash process. I think it's futile to try and change things. Rather just take on the sole responsibility of car washing yourself.

Yeah like drop the wash cloth in the sand and then pick it up and continue to wash the car! Seen that a few times in my life, greatest way to get swirl marks into you paint!

Thanks for stating the obvious, but have thought of a plan to expose this car washes questionable business practice, thus educating the ill informed that wash their cars at this car wash.

Take one down and two will spring up in its place, not worth the time or effort, chalk it up as a life lesson and move on...
