N55 tuning complete!

The end result is this:

Almost 200NM gain & 60-70kw on the wheels in certain areas of the graph. At 4000rpm, for example, it gains are 50kw on the wheels. The torque increase is so great that we couldn't dyno in 3rd gear anymore. Actually made more power in 3rd, but was wheelspinning on the rollers & we couldn't get an accurate torque reading. So we had to use 4th gear.

We still have some work to do to maintain the power up top. I'm still not happy with that. The peak gain is 30 wheel kw. Looks like the turbo may well be the restriction up at our elevation.

On the same day we dyno's 3 twin turbos. 2 stockers made 180kw on the wheels & close to 400NM. Our 335i with chip + downpipes made 258kw & 530NM (I'm sure he'll post tomorrow). The other twins made just on 500NM after being tuned. The single makes over 50NM more than any twin has ever made on this dyno. And on the road it runs pretty even with a modded twin.

Hi Guys

Ja was with Sherwin last night. Car has stage 2 xcede software and downpipes only. Will post dyno results as I forgot it at home.

She made 258wkw and 544nm on WRC dyno. What I love about my car is that the torque curve is flat from around 3000rpm up till 5000rpm where it starts dropping off. I'm sure at the higher rpm's the dyno can't simulate what actually happens on the road. You could see on the last run that the car was getting hot. She is a real steam train on the road.:excited:

Well, I expected this engine to have less reserves than the N54 based on the turbo change and resulting lowered boost threshold. (~17% lower threshold)

I would say no. The turbo is limited on high boost as it has a small compressor. The peak gain of torque is realized at the point that you do not see after you in first but it does make for very good daily driving if you shift early and drive in that rev range. Peak power is harder to get but look at how long it maintains it.
