N55 Engine Shortage?

Hi guys

Does anyone know or heard if there is a shortage of the N55 engines from BMW, if you placing/placed an order for a new vehicle it takes a month or longer than usual to arrive?

Order for my replacement vehicle was placed in mid-November 2012 and was set to arrive this week, now I've been told by the dealership that there is a shortage worldwide of the N55 engines and looks like the vehicle might be coming sometime next month but not 100% on that could take longer, something doesn't sound right to me about all of this .

Well long story short I had a problem with my previous 335i and was promised a solution by BMW, they couldn't fix it and after a year and a half of fighting they've agreed to take my car in and sell me a new one to my spec, so car was apparently ordered in November, old one is gone and I'm still waiting for some sort of timeline from them on when it's coming.

Had a squeaky noise from the front of the car from about 9000KM's and stayed until i gave it back to the dealership.

I hope so too, driving a 1.4 for the last few months is really takings it's toll on me.....

Will update with pics when and if it ever arrives...

:argh: So called BMW this morning, there is no such thing as the engine shortage, dealer finally replied car will arrive mid next month so they lied and probably sold my car to one of their regulars since my is an assistance deal no one makes any money.

Apparently only the N55 motors are a problem and well there are conflicting sorties from BMW SA, one minute it's engine, the next it's a the demand of the car they can't keep up with but mine was a special allocation that was ordered in November so date is set for mid March sometime, from end January.

Dealership is Bruma auto, they sent me order number but it's registered under my name so i cannot see the order status on the website.

Will keep you guys posted, i also think it's time for a change now, the GT86 looks good.

Just an update, you can see how long this process has taken and it's almost here, car only went into production last week Monday.
