N54 turbo recondition

Hi Gents

For those that have had their N54 turbos reconditioned what would be the best options.

Get a second hand set and recon those or pull the exciting turbos and recon them.

Also what is the cost of a recon on these turbos.

I have a leaky oil filter housing that I need to attend to soon.

But I suspect the turbos are on their way out, I don’t think a leaking oil filter housing would cause smoking out the exhaust.

Mine were replaced under warranty at 99K by previous owner under plan sitting on 140k now so they still pretty healthy, agree always having a second set around give some comfort.

They just a pain in the ass to fit because of the location

Agree on have a spare set...then you dont have too many weeks of downtime.
