So my car started to rattle a bit and especially noticeable in undercover parkings when I let off the accelerator. Did a bit of reading, dont have a JB4 and tried as much as i could to get it to go away or just reduce it
first thing i tried was to adjust the arm length...gave it one full turn and didnt really do anything...then the past weekend i was reading up again and saw VW uses an anti rattle clip on their cars to rid the rattle...see below

Having checked around the turbos of our cars I could not see anyway of getting a clip on there with the size of my hands:=): so continued browsing the web and found the "spring hook fix" :smilebounce: Not new, not my idea, and was probably mentioned here before...just had to try it
Results: been 2 days now and the rattle is gone
raise: yes! it worked...this probably wont last forever but so far so good...at least up until I have enough cash for a turbo removal and bush/ flapper replacement
How to:
1. Buy a spring with hook ends somewhere (i had one in the junk pile) - low enough tension to not interfere with wastgate operation..
2. Jack up driver side, and remove the wheel for access to the wastegate arm
3. i was able to get my one hand in through here and the other bottom up to the arm
4. Attach one end of the spring to the arm and the other to the heatshield pic below explains it all.
5. start her up and enjoy cold start without lousy rattle noise
Note: read that this works if most of the play is in the arm...if your flapper bush is beyond done it probably wont work...still worth a try
