N54 335i Cylinder Head Removal ;-(

Hey Guys

Just a few pics from our task removing the Cylinder head
We removed the head to get tested and cleaned before me and the Boys from Project Shift start Boosting the car with Ethanol and Meth and the JB4 to its maximum potential we were having a few problems.
It was one of the most tiring tasks to take on as there is basically a special tool for every bolt and nut on the engine luckily i have all the tools and the manuals to do this
I really dont wish it on my worst enemy but if you must heres some pictures of what you in for ,,Ill keep posting pics

Sheez. There are breather holes going from the head into the ports. Weld the shut and fit a valve cover oil breather. It will solve 50% of your carbon build up.

All the best with this build. You are in good hands with Burgy.

Saw your car at Burgs garage the other day, must say, she is a stunner. I tried convincing Burgy to just let me steal your car and leave Jezebel as your replacement. Ha ha.

All the best man!!!

Will you be upgrading any of the internals? Maybe do the pcv fix together with an OCC...

Havent really seen an N54 with upgraded internals to be honest, but if you are going so far, i think the next step should be a nice set of RB's :inlove:
there is a group buy on them at the moment on n54tech.

Wont be doing internals as of yet we waiting to see what HPF brings out with their single Turbo upgrade that they nearly finished on,,, apparently its going to make huge gains so would rather set the new standard with new upgrades than use the RBs but if it doesn't go to plan we will have a look at the RBs

Awesome write up:thumbs:

Can you post some pics of the inside of the head as well?

I will do when i get it back no problem :ty:

Interesting fact for the day

Cylinder head skimmed out 0.35 of a mil wich means had to order an oversize head gasket from stealers ( R2000 ) cant get it locally anywhere believe me i tried and have to get it from Germany prob around 10 days wait.

Checked the block straight as an arrow so that's good news

Bringing the grand total space skimmed to a wopping 0.03 of a mil when completed just goes to show you how crazy things get when skimming and boring etc

Luckily the compression in the engine wont be effected by this but any more i would have had to probably change out the head

Oh and if anyone is looking for the best cylinder head guys i must say JR Cylinders heads in wynberg they are apsolutely amazing with there service and understood exactly what i needed and for what application
Tune Tech and SAV use them aswell :fencelook: so thank J&R a big thumbs up

Will post pics soon

The guys at Vishnu already have a single turbo kit that makes over 640+ wheel HP and hold the record for a 335 running the quarter in 10.8 secs! However its only for LHD vehicles as the steering column in RHD sits exactly where the upgraded turbo and exhaust manifold goes
Do you perhaps know if HPF is bringing out a bigger single turbo for RHD, if so I wonder how they have engineered the manifold to fit?

Not sure if HPF is making it for the right hand drive as far as i know they are but not 100% i will speak to BURGY and find out as he is in constant contact with them :fencelook:

Do you have the graph that shows the before and after percentage flow for each cylinder? that would be really interesting to see....

Looks really good otherwise :inlove:

Unfortunately i only have the Dyno before i did Meth JB4 and Ethenol and now the head so i wont have a graph to show the before and after of just the Gas Flow but from what JR Cylinder heads say you get around 40 - 50 BHP

I will be doing the new Dyno soon
