My new ride

Picked him up yesterday. 330d 2005.

Now to think of ideas with what to modify without affecting the warranty.

Any idea's? I'm thinking the front bumper, 19" rims, and maybe the clear lights.

Only mods that are BMW aproved are AC Schnitzer in JHB, I know cause I used them.
Check at www.bmw.co.za, find dealer, JSN Motors.

I would also go for 19' but a racy, smashing rim that goes well with the colour of the car.

Secondly, because it is a diesel, i would consider a conservative chip/tune.

The rest of the car i would keep standard.:thumbsup:

I'm sure a chip/tune will affect it unless there is a way of undoing it before taking it in :mmm:. & I'd like an M3 bumper on it with the fog lights. I think it would look sweeeeeeet.

Go to the dealership, they should have contacts that can advise you.
JSN motors do bmw aproved chips,and mods.
Also contact the people from the motorplan directly and ask them.
Also go to club motors in Voortrekker road, gezina, they might help you.
Concerning the mags, no problems there, its one of the only things that you can change without the motorplan being affected.

When I bought my baby 3 years ago the first thing I did was change the mags and tyres.
the second thing was drive to JHB from Pretoria and do the chip.
I drive 325i but look up JSN motors, I know AC Schnitzer do a diesel upgrade too.
your motorplan then stays intact, cause its bmw approved.

Its on 76000km's.. Drive's like new its crazy.. I am going to take your advise and call JSN.. I hope they wont bankrot me. I'm hoping to get mags fitted on Sat..

I also removed my mudguards.
You should also ask to extend the motorplan, you can extend it up to total 7 years, so if you have 2005, up to 2012

Yup. I called them today to do just that and I was told its too early to renew :nono: ... The car has to be within 20000kms or 8mnths till expiry.

So I'm waiting for Sept or 4000kms, whichever comes first. :thumbsup:

Can I fit different tail pipes on the car. Ones that dont point down and look droopy as the stock ones do?

Well enjoy the car, I've been driving bm now for 5 years, first was 320d, now 325i
Once you drive bmw you will never want to drive anything else.

nice ride, leave the car as it is, just a software upgrade. 330d very strong and reliable. u have a nice 17, with so much torque, u gona be dodging potholes with 19s, n leave da mudflaps, finishes the car and blends in with the black beadings

Yeah, your ride looks awesome man!! I'm not a big fan of the eyelids or stripes. The clean look suits me better. Your's looks brilliant.. I agree with pothole dodgying with 19's and you make a good point. In another pothole less country, I'd get em.. So I'll consider 18's, maybe something like this

(I hope I dont get in trouble for using an autostyle image) - with a matching colour to the car of course..

The yellow/orange blinkers annoy me as they are and have to go..

try the scrap yards to maybe get some original bmw mags, or check junkmail.
I got my M3 mags for R7000 without tyres, and that was a steal.
BMW asks like R50,000 for them

Thanks Lindo.. How are your 18's holding up?? Are they very susceptible to minor potholes?

Coisman : Spoke to JSN = R12100K just for the chipping hardware without fitment!! :thinking: errr, not this year then!!

Game plan : Quality check by bmw tomorrow - thats my oppurtunity to ask them what I can and cant do to not ruin my motorplan/warrantly. Rims, tyres & removal of mud flaps Saturday, then the clear lights..., I will post before and after pics.
