Hi as indicated by my username I have never owned a BMW but I'm about to buy a 2011 320 auto from a toyota dealership just wanted to know how easy or difficult is it to renew the maintenance plan once the 5 years is up & does it matter that it's not from a BMW dealership

Welcome bud.

As far as I know from my own trials:

It isnt difficult at all but must be renewed before it expires (can be done within 3 or 6 months before it expires - not sure of that one). You can either increase the years (if you have low mileage) which is the cheaper option or increase the Km's.

If the MP is active, it will have to go into BMW for a quality check first and then they will transfer the plan onto your name.

It wont matter what dealership so long as the plan is active and not expired - whats the status of the MP on that car?

Hope this helps and I stand to be corrected from the more clued up fanatics on here...

Welcome.

When extending motorplan, you can basically buy time (if your mileage is low and the 5 year plan is about to expire).

Or you can buy kilometers. (So if the mileage is close to 100 000km and you still have some time before it reaches 5 years old.)

Buying time is cheaper than buying kilometers.

Or at least, this was the case when I still drove BMW's on motorplan. Now I drive old cars.

:ty: but you must have a pretty good mechanich who is not that expensive or do the dealerships just rip the customers out of motorplan off for parts and labour?
