Lovely cars, both of them. Your dad's 6 looks pretty good, perfect for a restoration job. I see it's a pre-82 model, therefore many parts are common with the e12 5 Series. Go to the scrapyards and collect trim parts, they are becoming scarce, and many BMW no longer stocks.

thanks for the tip its a 82. what doesn't make cense its got M badges all over. And according to research M's only came in 83 in euro. This car was imported from Germany all the labels and switches are in German. As you can see its a LHD with dog leg first. Also the cluster doesn't have the econo meter apparently only M's came without. Please advise.

Was very keen to buy a 325i Motorsport in this colour for my Wife earlier this year, but the advert that I saw on Gumtree at the time which has it listed under the Western Cape as in the Welgemoed area - turned out it wasn't in the Western Cape at all, it was in Welgemoet further inland! Then the advert expired... Have only seen a handful of E46's in this colour!

Wish I could help, but my knowledge on the e24 is not quite expert level. The car must be an early '82 as that would be one of the last e12-based versions, I picked this up from the dash in your interior pic. I think your research is correct regarding the M badges, and that they were most probably retro fitted by the previous owner. Sorry, but cannot confirm the econo meter story, I just don't know. Hang on to that dogleg box, they are rare and expensive. Although a bit notchy, they are great, I have one in my MLE.

There is actually a guy that lives lower down in our street that has a 330d in this colour. These individual colours really need to be admired close-up to be able to appreciate them fully, pics usually don't do it justice.

+1

First one that I saw in the flesh so to speak was at this past breakfast run - camera can't really capture the colour and light effects...

Did 635i have 3453 or 3430 cc 12 valve motor and M635i have 3453cc 24 valve motor ?
Some 24 valve were badged M635CSi as well , had 286 hp . Same motor as our 745i as raced by the late Tony Viana .
